A 25-year-old system, rebuilt to handle thousands of SKUs.
The printed catalogue now runs in the browser and stays linked both ways to InDesign. Pepkor, Furnmart and Homecorp use it.
A promotions and inventory system for head office, suppliers and franchises.
201 franchises and 876 suppliers are on it.
Promotions, catalogues and brand assets ran on a system that was 25 years old.
Over that time it had become several systems built into one, not a single system. It was slow and expensive. It couldn’t scale, and it could no longer be changed to keep up with the business.
They came to us to rebuild it.
A new system on a current technology stack, built over 18 months before it went live.
It takes in thousands of SKUs and a high volume of product data. It handles brand assets (images, metadata, facts and benefits) in a cheaper, better way than the old system could.
It connects to Onecom’s digital asset management system. Access is controlled by role, so each person sees and changes what their job requires. It also connects to ClickUp for workflow, and single sign-on is being added.
Our answer for catalogue production was to put the printed catalogue itself in the browser.
It runs in the exact template, with the brand assets, products and pricing already in place. While a promotion is open, brand managers, buyers and stock controllers work on it together. They change a price, swap a SKU, replace an image, and approve or decline each other’s changes.
When the promotion is locked, it goes to InDesign for high-resolution output and print. The browser version and InDesign are linked in both directions. A change made in one carries through to the other.
Alongside it, anything the system produces, digital or print, can be reviewed in one shared place. Different departments comment directly on an image or video and mark up what needs to change.
Mica’s existing system wasn’t integrated across their branches.
Head office and franchisees couldn’t run the same master stock sheets, and the system wasn’t doing what the business needed it to. They needed it rebuilt.
A system that manages Mica’s promotions, campaigns and inventory.
It also handles the allocation of that inventory between head office, suppliers and franchises.
Head office loads a supplier promotion into the system, and every franchise is notified of it along with the promotion period. Franchises place their orders during that period. When it closes, head office places the orders with suppliers and the goods are received.
